Facilities & Activities

The main building comprises the foyer and reception area, the hall used for all types of functions, billiard room and bar/TV area, library, washerette, a clinic area and a large kitchen. Also in this building is the shop, stocking local and imported Dutch products.

Benches are placed here and there on the terrain, also at the dam where residents can fish or have a braai using the barbeque facilities which are available here.

There is a guesthouse which may be rented by residents’ guests. The guesthouse overlooks the Blaauwpan dam.

Recently a putt-putt course was built, funded by the Oranjehof Residents Committee.

Residents can make use of the services of a hairdresser and pedicurist, who visit Oranjehof on a weekly basis.

A qualified nurse is in attendance at Oranjehof a number of times per week and residents can make an appointment with her for a (free) consultation.

Oranjehof has a bus, which transports residents to and from the shopping centre on regular days each week. A small charge is made for this service.

All residences have free access to BVN, the Dutch TV channel.

A hot lunch, prepared from fresh ingredients, is served in the hall on weekdays at a reasonable price.

All residents have an alarm button for emergencies.

Oranjehof has a Residents Committee which arranges get-togethers and functions such as Happy Hour, music concerts, a Christmas lunch etc. All Oranjehof residents are welcome to participate in these events. The Residents' Committee is in regular contact with the Management Committee.

Activities

Many activities are organised by and for the residents. These are amongst others, billiards, card games, bingo, line dancing etc.

Every year, in May and November, Oranjehof holds its "Dutch Market" - this is to boost its funds but is also a lot of fun for residents and visitors. To find out when the next market day will be held, please click the "Market day" button at the top.

Dutch language church services of various denominations are held in the hall on a regular basis.

The Afrikaans speaking Dutch Reformed Church of Bonaero Park arranges transport to and from their services for those residents who wish to attend.

In December the Dutch feast of "Sinterklaas day" is enthusiastically celebrated at Oranjehof. All residents are invited to the hall for this festivity. And of course Christmas is also celebrated in style.
